Recently, from 1 January 2018 onwards, a change has been made by the Ministry of Manpower, as to the requirements of such employees obtaining a Dependent Pass in Singapore. It is now harder to obtain. As to the old requirement, it used to be the case that Singapore Employment Pass and S Pass holders had to have a fixed monthly salary of at least S$5,000 for their family members to be eligible for a Dependent Pass.
With the new requirement, it has been increased to S$6,000. Next, for work pass holders to apply for Long Term Visit Passes for their parents to reside in Singapore, the old requirement was for them to have a fixed monthly salary of at least S$10,000. With the new requirement, this has been increased to S$12,000. Note that, as the change takes effect from 1 January 2018, all applications made by Employment Pass and S Pass holders henceforth will be subject to the more stringent requirements.
